This product is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, thereby blocking DNA synthesis and replication, which ultimately leads to bacterial death. It demonstrates strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and other Enterobacteriaceae. It also shows better antibacterial effects against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae compared with norfloxacin and pefloxacin.
It is commonly used for the treatment of otitis media, otitis externa, myringitis, and periostitis caused by sensitive bacteria. In some cases, mild middle ear pain and itching may occasionally occur.
