Product Application of Calcium chlorideCAS#10043-52-4
Calcium chloride (CAS# 10043-52-4) is available in anhydrous and hydrated forms.
The anhydrous form appears as white porous granules or frit, with strong deliquescence properties. It has a melting point of 782℃, a density of 2.15 g/cm³, and a boiling point exceeding 1600℃. This form dissolves readily in water, releasing significant heat, and is also soluble in ethanol and acetone.
The most prevalent hydrated form is calcium chloride hexahydrate (CaCl₂·6H₂O), characterized by colorless trigonal crystals, easy deliquescence, and a bitter-salty taste. Its density is 1.71 g/cm³, and it dissolves in its crystal water at 29.92℃. When heated to 30℃, it loses four water molecules to form a dihydrate (CaCl₂·2H₂O), a white porous and hygroscopic solid. Further heating yields a monohydrate, and temperatures above 200℃ completely dehydrate it to anhydrous calcium chloride, which exhibits strong hygroscopicity.
