Product Details

Product Description of Sulfamic Acid CAS#5329-14-6

Sulfamic acid appears as a white, flaky crystalline solid with an orthorhombic structure. It is odorless, non-volatile, and non-hygroscopic. The product dissolves readily in water and liquid ammonia, is slightly soluble in methanol, and is insoluble in ethanol, ether, carbon disulfide, and liquid sulfur dioxide. Its aqueous solution exhibits strong acidic properties comparable to hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, while showing significantly lower corrosiveness toward metals than hydrochloric acid. Sulfamic acid has very low toxicity; however, prolonged skin contact should be avoided, and contact with the eyes must be prevented.

Product Application of Sulfamic Acid CAS#5329-14-6

Sulfamic acid, a monoamide derivative of sulfuric acid, is a strong inorganic acid widely used in chemical cleaning applications, particularly for the removal of nitrite residues as well as carbonate- and phosphate-based scale deposits. It also functions as an effective catalyst in various organic reactions, including Friedländer quinoline synthesis and the liquid-phase Beckmann rearrangement for producing amides from ketoximes. In addition, sulfamic acid is applied in the preparation of α-aminophosphonates through a three-component reaction involving aldehydes, amines, and diethyl phosphite.
