Products Description of Sodium Sulfate CAS#7757-82-6

Sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄), also known as thenardite or salt cake, is a crystalline compound with a melting point of 888°C (1632°F). It occurs naturally in the form of thenardite, which is found in regions such as Chile and Spain. Sodium sulfate is widely used in the production of paperboard, glass, and freezing mixtures. Its hydrated form, Na₂SO₄·10H₂O, commonly called “Glauber’s salt,” is a white, water-soluble solid prepared by heating sodium chloride with sulfuric acid. It is applied in dyeing, glass manufacturing, and in the preparation of sodium bisulfate.
