Copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate is widely used as an agricultural fungicide, algicide, bactericide, and herbicide. It is also applied as a food and fertilizer additive, an ingredient in insecticide formulations, and a raw material for the production of other copper salts. In addition, it is used as a mordant in textile dyeing, in the manufacture of azo dyes, for hide preservation, leather tanning, and wood preservation.
