Sodium Molybdate Dihydrate CAS#10102-40-6
High Water Solubility – White crystalline powder or colorless crystals dissolve effectively in water, with a solubility of about 39 g/100 mL at 25°C.
Mild Alkalinity – The aqueous solution is weakly alkaline, with a pH of approximately 9–10, suitable for various chemical applications.
Thermal Stability – Stable at room temperature, retaining its crystalline structure under normal conditions.
Chemical Reactivity – Reacts with strong acids to form molybdic acid (H₂MoO₄) and can transform into anhydrous sodium molybdate (Na₂MoO₄) upon heating above 100°C, enabling diverse industrial and chemical uses.
Products Description of Sodium Molybdate Dihydrate CAS#10102-40-6
Sodium molybdate dihydrate appears as a white crystalline powder or colorless crystals and is highly soluble in water, with a solubility of approximately 39 g/100 mL at 25°C. Its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline, with a pH around 9–10. The compound is stable at room temperature. When heated above 100°C, it gradually loses its crystalline water to form anhydrous sodium molybdate (Na₂MoO₄, CAS#7631-95-0). It reacts with strong acids to produce a precipitate of molybdic acid (H₂MoO₄).

Product Application of Sodium Molybdate Dihydrate CAS#10102-40-6
Sodium molybdate dihydrate (CAS#10102-40-6) has a wide range of applications. In industry, it is used as a corrosion inhibitor for circulating water, a metal phosphating treatment agent, and a chemical catalyst. In the pharmaceutical sector, it serves as an intermediate and as a reagent for enzyme research. In the electronics industry, it is applied in the production of components such as semiconductor films. In analytical chemistry, it functions as a chromogenic agent for the detection of heavy metal ions. During storage and handling, it should be kept in a sealed container to prevent contact with strong acids, and proper protective measures should be observed.
