Product Applications of Dibutyl Sebacate (CAS# 109-43-3)
Dibutyl sebacate (DBS), a dibutyl ester of sebacic acid, is used in the production of plastics for food packaging, medical devices, and pharmaceutical applications. It also serves as a desensitizer in Otto fuel II, a torpedo monopropellant. Dibutyl sebacate has been employed as a plasticizer in the preparation of free ethylcellulose films. Additionally, it can be used as a core material in liquid-core capsules, where it is encased in a cross-linked alginate/polyacrylamide membrane, prepared using the co-extrusion jet-break-up method, for extracting the pesticide atrazine.
