Product Description of Europium Oxide CAS#1308-96-9
Europium oxide is a white to slightly pink powder, with color variations depending on the production method. It is hygroscopic and can form two crystal variants—pseudo-trigonal and equiaxed—depending on the heating temperature, with the equiaxed form sharing the same structure as scandium oxide. The compound has a relative density of 7.42 and a melting point of 2330 °C. Insoluble in water, europium oxide can dissolve in inorganic acids to form trivalent europium salts and is also soluble in formic and acetic acids. Additionally, it absorbs carbon dioxide from the air, forming europium carbonate.
