Product Application of Chromic Chloride Hexahydrate CAS#10060-12-5
Chromium(III) chloride hexahydrate (CrCl₃·6H₂O) is used as a versatile source of chromium(II) for catalyzing the iodovinylation of aldehydes (Takai reaction). It is also applied in the synthesis of chromium(III) complexes with tetradentate Schiff bases.
Additionally, it is used in the preparation of Cr(III)-fatty acid complexes, which serve as catalysts for the production of 1-monoacylglycerols. When combined with choline chloride to form a deep eutectic solvent, it acts as a catalyst for the esterification of formic and acetic acids with alcohols.
