Product Description of Ammonium Ferric Citrate (CAS# 1185-57-5)
Ammonium ferric citrate is an industrial-grade product with a purity of ≥ 99%. It appears as a brownish-red amorphous powder, odorless and with a slightly ferrous taste. When heated, the compound decomposes at its melting point and again at its boiling point. At 25°C, its vapor pressure is negligible, and at 20°C, its relative density is 1.80.
In terms of solubility, it is highly soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol, ether, and chloroform. The product is stable under normal conditions; however, it is incompatible with strong acids, strong oxidizing agents, and reducing agents.

Product Application of Ammonium Ferric Citrate CAS#1185-57-5
Nutritional Supplements: Used as an iron enhancer and anti-anemia agent (oral dose: 1–2 g). It can be added to products such as biscuits and milk powder, though it is not suitable for foods where coloring is undesirable.
Food Fortification: As a food iron fortifier, ammonium ferric citrate has better absorption than inorganic iron. In China, recommended usage includes:
Salt and sandwich sugar: 4000–8000 mg/kg
High-iron cereals and products (daily limit: 50 g): 1200–1350 mg/kg
Dairy and infant foods: 400–800 mg/kg
Cereals and their products: 160–330 mg/kg
Beverages: 70–140 mg/kg
Pharmaceutical Industry: Employed as an ingredient in the production of various pharmaceutical products.
