Product Application of Sorbitol CAS#50-70-4
Sorbitol is a water-soluble polyol produced by hydrogenating glucose. With about 60% of the sweetness of sugar and a lower caloric value (2.6 kcal/g), it is widely used as a humectant and sweetener in food and pharmaceutical applications. Sorbitol helps retain moisture in candies, pet foods, and shredded coconut, and improves texture and body in sugar-free frozen desserts and low-calorie beverages. It is commonly applied in sugarless confectionery, chewing gum, ice cream, and as a crystallization modifier in soft sugar-based products.
