Zirconium phosphate exists in two structural types, α and γ, and is a white powder, insoluble in water and organic solvents, but resistant to strong acids and certain alkalis. It possesses a large specific surface area and surface charge, making it a relatively strong solid acid with excellent ion exchange properties.
