Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) is a non-toxic, halogen-free flame retardant derived from polyphosphoric acid and ammonia. It exists in two main types:
APP Phase I: Short, linear chains (n<100), water-sensitive, decomposes above 150 °C.
APP Phase II: High polymerization, branched structure (n>1000), thermally stable, decomposes above 300 °C, low water solubility, high-quality non-halogenated flame retardant.

Product Application of Ammonium Polyphosphate CAS#68333-79-9
Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) is an eco-friendly, halogen-free flame retardant widely used in coatings, paints, and engineering plastics. It serves as the main component in intumescent flame retardant systems and can be used alone or with other materials for flameproofing textiles, paper, fibers, and wood. High-concentration formulations (up to 50% P/N) are also available for specialized applications.
APP is also used in fertilizers, commonly with N-P₂O₅-K₂O ratios of 10-34-0 or 11-37-0. Polyphosphate fertilizers provide high nutrient content, good stability, and compatibility with other micronutrients, making them ideal for long-term storage and plant nutrition.
