In a 500 mL round-bottom flask, 2,3-difluorophenylboronic acid (30 g, 189.98 mmol, 1.00 eq.) was dissolved in dichloromethane (250 mL). Hydrogen peroxide (30 mL) was then added dropwise slowly under stirring. The reaction mixture was continuously stirred at 25°C for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was washed successively with water and saturated brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 2,3-difluorophenol as a brown oil in 23 g yield (93%).
