Arbutin CAS#497-76-7
Potent Tyrosinase Inhibitor – Arbutin effectively inhibits human tyrosinase activity in melanocytes, helping reduce melanin formation and treat hyperpigmentation.
Strong Antioxidant Protection – It protects cells from free radical–induced damage, preventing hemolysis and improving skin fibroblast viability.
Powerful Anti-Inflammatory Activity – Arbutin suppresses inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) in vivo, demonstrating significant anti-inflammatory effects.
Effective Skin Brightening and Depigmenting Agent – Widely used in formulations for hyperpigmentation disorders, supporting skin whitening and tone-evening applications.
Product Description of Arbutin CAS#497-76-7
Arbutin is a glycosylated form of hydroquinone naturally found in Arctostaphylos plants and exhibits a range of biological activities, including tyrosinase inhibition, antioxidant effects, and anti-inflammatory properties. It effectively suppresses human tyrosinase activity in crude enzyme preparations isolated from melanocytes (IC50 values of 5.7 and 18.9 mM using L-tyrosine and L-DOPA as substrates, respectively) as well as in intact melanocytes (IC50 = 0.5 mM).
At a concentration of 50 μM, arbutin inhibits hemolysis induced by the free radical generator AAPH in sheep erythrocytes, and at concentrations above 125 μM, it prevents AAPH-induced reductions in cell viability in cultured human skin fibroblasts. In an LPS-induced rat model of acute lung injury, arbutin (50 mg/kg) suppresses increases in IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α levels in both lung tissue and serum. Formulations containing arbutin have been widely applied in the treatment of hyperpigmentation disorders.
