N,N-Dimethylaniline CAS#121-69-7

N,N-Dimethylaniline is a tertiary amine in which two hydrogen atoms on the amino group of aniline are substituted by methyl groups. It is classified as both a tertiary amine and a dimethylaniline derivative. The compound appears as a pale yellow to light brown oily liquid with a strong, pungent odor. It is readily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, chloroform, ether, and aromatic hydrocarbons, and only slightly soluble in water.

Product Applications of N,N-Dimethylaniline (CAS No. 121-69-7)

N,N-Dimethylaniline is widely used in the production of dyes, as a solvent, as a reagent in methylation reactions, and as a curing agent in fiberglass-reinforced resins.

It is an important intermediate in the dye industry and can be used to synthesize products such as alkaline yellow, crystal violet 5BN, basic magenta green, basic lake blue BB, basic brilliant blue R, cationic red 2BL, brilliant red 5GN, violet 3BL, and brilliant blue. In the pharmaceutical field, it serves as a raw material for the manufacture of drugs including cefazolin V, sulfamonomethoxine, sulfadoxine, and fluorocytosine. In addition, it can be used as an intermediate in vanillin production, as a stabilizer in colorimetric peroxidase determination, and as a reagent in chemical synthesis.
