Products Description of Sodium Silicate CAS#1344-09-8

Sodium silicate (2Na₂O·SiO₂) is the simplest form of glass. It appears as greenish glass lumps that dissolve in steam under pressure, as white powders with different degrees of solubility, or as clear or cloudy liquid solutions. It is non-flammable; however, when the powder is dispersed in air, it may cause a dust explosion in the presence of an ignition source. Inhalation of the dust can also pose health risks. In addition, the glass form may present a hazard to emergency responders during accidents.
