Product Description of Cesium Carbonate CAS#534-17-8
Cesium carbonate is an inorganic compound that appears as a white solid under normal temperature and pressure. It is highly soluble in water and readily absorbs moisture when exposed to air. Its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline and can react with acids to form corresponding cesium salts, water, and carbon dioxide. Due to its high reactivity and ease of conversion, cesium carbonate is commonly used as a precursor for the preparation of other cesium salts and is widely applied in various chemical processes.

Product Application of Cesium Carbonate CAS#534-17-8
Cesium carbonate is widely used as a precursor for the preparation of other cesium compounds and serves as a strong base in sensitive organic reactions. It is commonly applied in C–C and C–N cross-coupling reactions, including Suzuki–Miyaura, Heck, and Buchwald–Hartwig amination processes. In the field of energy materials, it is used in solar cells to enhance power conversion efficiency by facilitating electron transfer.
Additionally, cesium carbonate is utilized in the manufacture of specialty optical glass, petroleum catalytic additives, advanced ceramics, and in the sulfuric acid industry. It is also effective in various organic transformations, such as N-alkylation of sulfonamides, β-lactams, indoles, and other nitrogen-containing compounds, as well as in carbamination of amines, carbonylation of alcohols, and aerobic oxidation of alcohols to carbonyl compounds without forming polymeric by-products. Furthermore, it promotes efficient O-alkylation of alcohols to produce mixed alkyl carbonates.
