Product Application of 4-Methyl-2-Pentanone (CAS #108-10-1)
4-Methyl-2-pentanone is used as an intermediate in the production of medicines and dyes. It plays a key role in the synthesis of the pesticide Mitosil, which, produced from o-chlorobenzaldehyde, is effective in controlling mites on dry crops and fruit trees. Additionally, o-chlorobenzaldehyde can undergo oximation to form o-chlorobenzaldehyde oxime, which can then be further chlorinated to obtain more pharmaceutical intermediates.
