ISOCYANIC ACID
Wide chemical variety:Isocyanates include multiple structural types—monoisocyanates and polyisocyanates—offering great flexibility for different chemical formulations and performance requirements.
Broad industrial applicability:Their polymers are used in a wide range of products, including pigments, resins, plastics, foams, elastomers, adhesives, coatings, and detergents.
Excellent material-building capability:Isocyanates serve as key raw materials for producing high-performance polymers with tailored physical and chemical properties.
Strong formulation versatility:With well-known types such as TDI, MDI, IPDI, HDI, and PAPI, isocyanates allow manufacturers to select the best option for specific applications and processing needs.
Isocyanates are a general term for various esters of isocyanate (HNCO). Important compounds include four main categories: alkyl monoisocyanates, (substituted) phenyl monoisocyanates, α-substituted alkyl isocyanates, and polyisocyanates. Common examples include toluene diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate (PAPI), and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). Their polymers can be used to synthesize pigments, resins, textile hydrophobic agents, plastics, detergents, foams, elastomers, adhesives, and coatings.

Polyisocyanates mainly include isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), which is commonly used as a raw material for light-colored polyurethanes; hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), which is mainly used for the preparation of biuret compounds; and triphenylmethane triisocyanate, 4,4′,4″-triphenyl phosphate triisocyanate, and 4,4′,4″-triphenyl thiophosphate triisocyanate, which are primarily used as adhesives.
