Product Details

Lanthanum(III) Nitrate Hexahydrate CAS# 10277-43-7

Lanthanum(III) nitrate is commonly used as a precursor material for the electrochemical synthesis of LaMnO₃ thin film coatings on stainless steel substrates. It also serves as a catalyst in the chemoselective synthesis of both cyclic and acyclic dithioacetals.

In addition, it is widely applied in the preparation of advanced materials, including lanthanum aluminate (LAO) thin films, LaF₃ nanocrystals, and bis(indolyl) methane compounds derived from indoles.

Product Application of Lanthanum(III) Nitrate Hexahydrate CAS#10277-43-7

Lanthanum(III) nitrate hexahydrate is used as a precursor for the electrochemical synthesis of LaMnO₃ thin film coatings on stainless steel substrates. A new solvothermal method has also been developed to produce doped lanthanide oxysulfide (La₂O₂S), which may support potential applications in phosphors, fluorescent display tubes, and heat transfer measurement technologies.

Lanthanum nitrate is mainly utilized in specialty glass manufacturing, water treatment, and catalytic processes. Compounds of lanthanum and other rare-earth elements, such as oxides and chlorides, are widely used as components in different catalytic systems, including petroleum cracking catalysts.

In metallurgy, adding small amounts of lanthanum to steel can improve its malleability, impact resistance, and ductility, while the addition of lanthanum to molybdenum helps reduce hardness and sensitivity to temperature changes. Additionally, trace amounts of lanthanum are used in pool treatment products to remove phosphates that promote algae growth.
