Products Description of Glycidyl Methacrylate CAS#106-91-2
Glycidyl Methacrylate (GMA) is a clear, colorless liquid with a strong ester-like and fruity odor. It features a polymerizable methacrylate group at one end and a reactive epoxy group at the other. GMA is slightly miscible with water, soluble in most organic solvents, and exhibits relatively low volatility, with vapor denser than air. It readily copolymerizes with a variety of functional groups, including phenols, ketones, acids, and amines. The epoxy functionality enhances the material’s durability, mechanical strength, optical clarity, and adhesiveness.

Product Application of Glycidyl Methacrylate CAS#106-91-2
Glycidyl Methacrylate (GMA) is a widely used monomer for the synthesis of epoxy resins. It provides epoxy functionalization to polyolefins and other acrylate-based resins. GMA finds applications in the production of polymer coatings and finishes, adhesives, plastics, and elastomers. It has also been reported for use in biocompatible hydrogels, such as glycidyl methacrylate dextran. Additionally, in situ polymerization of GMA with trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate can produce macroporous sorbents, and GMA can be grafted onto polypropylene for functionalized polymer materials.
